Amplifier Game Invest forms a new Swedish game studio – Plucky Bytes.
Amplifier Game Invest, a subsidiary of Embracer Group, forms a new game studio in Karlstad, Sweden, together with Douglas Furén and Will Jordan, seasoned developers with a combined experience of 30 years in the games industry. The new studio is based on a pioneering investment model, where Amplifier Game Invest establishes and funds the company, provides a wide range of development support, while the top tier talent, backed by solid financial incentives, drives the creative vision of the studio.
“Building upon our broad industry network, we are able to attract extraordinary people, such as Douglas and Will, and let them shape the studio and creative vision of their dreams. Our role is to start, fund, mentor and guide the team to future success, and we are very excited for this collaboration”, says Per-Arne Lundberg, CEO of Amplifier Game Invest.
Plucky Bytes will have a headquarters in Karlstad, Sweden, and will be built around a mix of on-site and remote developers, allowing the team to expand in a safe and sustainable way. The team will design and build highly systemic games based on IPs of their own making, targeting PC and Console platforms.
“This studio model allows Plucky Bytes to fully benefit from Amplifier’s support and experience in how to run a successful business, which means that we can focus on what we do best: making games. We now have the rare opportunity to build the games of our dreams, and I assure you; we’re gonna develop the living daylights out of ’em!”, says Douglas Furén, who is joining Plucky Bytes together with Will Jordan in early 2021.
Plucky Bytes becomes a fully owned subsidiary of Amplifier Game Invest AB, joining the ranks of 13 other game development companies already part of the Amplifier family. Amplifier Game Invest is one of the six operative groups within Embracer Group.
