Amplifier Game Invest acquires Rare Earth Games, a new Vienna-based game studio.

Amplifier, a subsidiary of Embracer Group, acquires Austria-based Rare Earth Games, founded by a team of highly experienced industry veterans. The acquisition marks the first investment by Amplifier Game Invest in Austria, and Rare Earth Games will focus on action-packed multiplayer game titles for PC, Consoles and Cloud services.

There are times when we meet a group of developers that immediately astound us with their vision and ambition, and this was such a moment. Together with Michael Borras and his team, we will build a PC and Console powerhouse for the future”, says Per-Arne Lundberg, CEO of Amplifier Game Invest.

The Rare Earth leadership team, Michael Borras, Helmut Hutterer and Peter Ehardt, has experience as founders of Iron Mountain Interactive and Socialspiel Entertainment, with backgrounds at Deep Silver and Rockstar Games. Together with a strong creative and technical team, they will spearhead the work on Rare Earth’s first game, a fresh take on online co-op survival action

“After nearly 20 years of creating games together, my team and I found Amplifier’s approach to investments to be a dream come true. Thanks to this partnership, we now have the freedom to focus on creating extraordinary new gaming IPs while growing Rare Earth Games organically with the experience and support of Amplifier and the Embracer Group behind us” says Michael Borras, CEO of Rare Earth Studios

Rare Earth Studios becomes a fully owned subsidiary of Amplifier Game Invest AB, joining the ranks of 11 other game development companies already part of the Amplifier family. Amplifier Game Invest is one of the five operating groups within Embracer Group.
